Modern Western society seems to value youth as the ultimate key to success and admiration, so it can be easy to feel uncomfortable about your inevitable old age. That’s why examples of elderly people rediscovering themselves later in life are so encouraging, inspiring, and heartwarming. That was the idea behind “The Age of Happiness” project.

Russian journalist and photographer Vladimir Yakovlev is the man behind this international project, which aims to change your perspective towards life after 60, 70, 80, or even 100. Yakovlev travels all around the world to find older people who have beautiful stories to tell of how they found their new passions (many of which are rather physically challenging) when others would have thought their active days were far behind them.
